Into The Spider-Verse Translations

I loved itsv, and I especially loved all the Spanish that was included! Since I haven’t seen anyone else posting this, here are traslations for the Spanish that shows up in Spider-verse. I’ll put Spanish in italics and traslations in (parentheses).

[During the scene where Miles is getting ready for school]

Miles: Where’s my laptop?

Rio: ¿Donde le dejaste? (Where did you leave it?)

Miles:  ¡Yo no se! (I don’t know!)

[…]

Rio:  Ay Maria, este nene me tiene loca! (Ay Maria, this kid’s driving me crazy!)

[…]

Rio:  Papá! Llamame! (Sweetie! Call me!) See you Friday!

Miles:  Okay, mami. Hasta luego! (Okay, Mom. See you later!)

[Miles is walking to school]

Friend: Miles! ¿Te va bien en la escuela? (Miles! That school going good for you?)

Miles: Seguro que si (Sure it is)

[…]

Miles: ¡CONTRA! (”AHH” or “OUCH” or “SHOOT”)

[Miles comes home after Spider-Man’s death]

Rio: Miles? Que te pasa? (What’s wrong?) Is it the earthquake?

Jefferson:  When it gets hard, that’s when he’s gotta stick it out.

Rio:  Shhhh. Tiene que mas suave. (You have to be more quiet.)

[Aunt May’s house is attacked]

Scorpion: Mira todas estas arañitas. (Look at all these little spiders.)

[…]

Scorpion: Ninito dale. (”Go ahead, little boy.”, Scorpion is egging Miles on to fight.)

Miles: Preparate a miror. (Prepare to die.) Ah man, stupid pillows!

[During the fight at the Super Collider]

Scorpion:  Puerco? (Pig?) What are you, some kind of silly cartoon?

Honestly the spidersona bandwagon gives me life because no one is being like “lmao that’s trash and doesn’t fit into cannon” because theirs like infinite universe and Ofcourse that could happen in one of them. Spider-Man’s a mermaid? Why not

And can we talk about how well they used the medium of animation? 

The art style changing to more closely resemble a comic book after Miles gets bitten?

The way glitching was represented?

They use of varying colors and art styles to compliment each Spider-person’s personalities?

This is a movie that could only have been pulled off in animation. It really uses the medium to its advantage and plays with the boundaries of visual story telling. Thank you, Into the Spiderverse for being a celebration of both comic books and animation. 

I’d been waiting for Peter Ramsey to get back in the director’s chair since Rise of the Guardians and he did not disappoint.
